But this does mean our studio will be closed from Jan 16 thru to the 24th. You can still place your orders online and we'll get them out to you as soon as we return.

I hope to have lots of pics and stories to share too!

Vogue Knitting Live in Chicago

What a great time we had at VKL in Chicago ! This was my first time visiting this grand city and it is fabulous. We arrived to 70 F degree weather and spent the first day cruising the river on a architectural tour. Wow!
Then it was time to go to work. We set up the booth at the venue - the elegant Palmer House.

It all went quite smoothly and except for the super ugly carpet we think it looked pretty good.

Three days later and we're all packed up and leaving the show. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great success and we can't wait to come back.

Florence

So thrilled we are to publish our latest design.
Florence, named after my mother, is a lovely little lace cardi. I know she would have loved wearing this feminine, fresh hemp top with lace fronts and reverse stockinette back and sleeves.  There's some neat slipped stitch patterning on the back and sleeves which look rather like seams but so much easier to do.
I purposely designed this top to be worked at a looser gauge which makes it a great cover-up weight. In the summer it can be worn over a tank and in cooler seasons a nice long sleeve tee underneath is all that is needed. Knit in allhemp6 or allhemp6LUX for drape, durability and easy care.
Oh and I haven't mentioned this yet, but Florence is FREE.

Hemp Tablecloth

For years I've been dreaming about knitting a hemp tablecoth but just never got around to actually knitting one. Well, last week Kathy comes into the studio and gifts me a hemp tablecloth - it's gorgeous!  I'm blown away with the beautiful work and all the thought and time that went into it. She used our new allhemp3LUX yarn and it feels so dreamy and drapy I just might wrap it around me and dream some more!

TNNA 2012 - We're here!!!

Hello from TNNA. I took a couple of pics today just before the show opened. Too bad the glare is on all the posters because they look so awesome.
Tomorrow is the last day. We've had a number of new shops purchase our yarns and patterns. Thanks to everyone who made this show such a great success.

And someone remind me not to book a 5:30am flight out of Columbus AGAIN! That's 2:30am BC time....what was I thinking!!

Lana's Flaming June

I've just finished my Flaming June. Maybe I need to rename mine since the original design was knit with brick and pumpkin (very flaming colors)!

I love the fabric that the allhemp3 yarn knits at this gauge. It's worked on a 3.75m (5US) needle which is slightly larger than the suggested size. It is so airy and lightweight and I know I'll wear it lots once the weather warms up. There's alot of peole knitting this design and I know because the allhemp3 is flying off the shelves.

Flaming June

We were so excited when we saw this design using our allhemp3 yarn in the latest Knitty issue. Check out Flaming June designed by Cheryl Niamath. It's got all the things I love in a design - style, drape and real wearability! I immediately cast on using the color Pearl (off white) for the main and Classic Hemp (beige) for the contrast. The finished fabric is nice and airy and will be perfect when it heats up a bit.

Stitches West 2012

Here's some pics of our booth this year. We sure do cram a lot of stuff into a 10 x 10 booth.

You can see the Girly Dress and Flirty Ruffles Skirt in the large posters. They were a really big hit, as were Kathys Canapa Cardi and Knot Garden Top.

We had so many sample garments this year- in fact I'm still putting them away!

It was great to meet so many  knitters. You all give us so much encouragement and support. That's what I really love about doing the shows.

We Have A Winner!

Congratulations to Jamie! We've sent an email letting her know she is the winner of the pattern and yarn to knit this beautiful cloth. This morning I finished the one in the pic - deep sea and pearl! Can't wait to see what colors Jamie selects. I think I could get 5 - 6 cloths out of just 2 skeins of allhemp6. Fun, fun, fun!

The FisherMAN Sweater

Here's a first look at the FisherMAN Sweater! It's an easy knit, stockinette with a slip stitch which creates nice vertical lines. The body and sleeves are knit separately in the round to the underarms, then joined all in one piece. This shoulder shaping uses the same technique  that I used in the Urban Twist. It gives the appearance of a sewn in sleeve but they are actually knit on as you go. Pattern will be along shortly.

The bottom photo shows the fisherman in the distance and in the foreground a knitted washcloth finished whilst husband fishes.  Tally: fish = 0, washcloth = 1. Now that's my idea of a blissful morning!
