Extra Notes for Elegant Empire Design

As I'm knitting the baby version of this design I was thinking that a diagram may really help.  This isn't a difficult design but the construction is different. So before I finish it and stitch the front and back sides together this is the perfect time to take a pic. This is the right side (meaning I have just finished the first piece) Now I have to knit the left side, the two pieces will then be joined together at the back. I've tried to label the pic, but it still may be difficult to read. If you click on the pic it will open a larger one.
Let me know what you think and also if you are knitting this design - is this helpful? I appreciate any comments and feedback. .....now back to my knitting so I can get this baby one ready to publish.

  1. I think this is definately a good idea to add for clarity. A lot of people have a hard time invisioning something they haven't done before even if they are a strong knitter. Thanks:)

  2. I think the photo really helps, especially the labels. You can see exactly where you are starting and then casting on the the Back and Front. Perfect. It's a gorgeous sweater.

  3. The photo is helpful.

I'd also like to see a photo showing the band edging. The pattern says to pick up the stitches and then basically to work "in pattern" but I can't see anywhere that the pattern is set or stated. I'm at a loss to continue....

  4. I just started this project and am working on the sleeve and am confused when TC pattern to be using on rnd 6-9. Am I using the one that is supposed to be working in a round (which is what I am assuming) or the one to be worked flat? The wording in the pattern is unclear when it says to "work rows 1-4 in TC" and that we are working in rounds.

  5. When you are working in the rnd, as for the sleeves, you follow the TC pattern in the rnd instructions. Once you have reached the top of the sleeve, then you will be adding sts for the front and back and will be working flat. This is when you follow the TC pattern instructions for working flat. Hope this helps!

  6. Ty so much for posting a picture. I have this pattern and was honestly needing a picture to visualize it before I started. Cheers!
